Established in 1979 as Chattogram Shishu Hospital, the organization began its journey with humble outpatient services, supported by a dedicated group of social workers and medical professionals. Initially operating from a renovated government building in Agrabad with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare's approval, the hospital gradually expanded its facilities, acquiring the entire two-story building (91,000 sqft per floor).
Currently, Chattogram Maa-O-Shishu Hospital is a 650-bedded facility offering a comprehensive range of medical services. These include Paediatric Medicine, Neonatology, Paediatric Surgery, General Surgery, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Medicine, and various sub-specialties. Its outpatient department provides consultancy, pharmacy, family planning, mother care, EPI (Expanded Programme on Immunization), and physical medicine, catering to all types of paediatric care. Additional services encompass Orthopaedic Surgery, ENT, Ophthalmology, Dentistry, Dermatology, Psychiatry, and a specialized Child Development Clinic for children with developmental challenges, as well as adult medicine. The outpatient department serves an average of 1000-1500 patients daily, complemented by active Emergency Medical Unit (AMU) services.
The hospital is equipped with a full-fledged Radiology Department, offering X-ray facilities and advanced Ultrasonography (2D & 3D with Color Doppler). The Clinical Pathology Department is well-equipped for Hematology, Biochemistry, and Microbiology. Furthermore, a Blood Transfusion Center operates 24/7, providing essential services.
